About the presentation
This presentation is designed to provide attendees with a brief introduction to behavioral interventions for sleep disorders such as insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, and sleep apnea. It is designed to help clinicians increase their competency in addressing the sleep complaints of their clients. This includes knowing how to assess, when behavioral strategies can be used, and when to refer out.

Because sleep problems impact such a high proportion of individuals, and given high rates of comorbidity with almost all psychological problems, any clinician can benefit from this presentation. Participants will be gain understanding of the basics of the psychological and biological processes controlling sleep and wake, learn how to identify sleep disorders and respond appropriately, and receive an overview of the core components of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia. Additionally, attendees will receive more thorough assessment strategies, enhanced competency in applying behavioral principles to sleep, and increasing knowledge of the types of treatments available to those with disordered sleep.
